Hello! I am a junior at Moravian University who is majoring in English with a certification in Secondary Education. I am currently enrolled in ENGL 218: Digital Rhetoric and Media, which allows us to create a website that pertains to a specific issue that interests us. The interest my website will be focusing on is equality in women’s sports. Over my years I have always been an avid lover of sports and enjoyed playing them. I ran cross country and played lacrosse. When I was not on the field or the course, I was in the gym or outside playing. Sports has been a constant factor in my life. It dawned on me from an early age that women are not treated equally in sports. Whether it be not having games televised, lower pay wages, old uniforms or practice time slots that are inconvenient. Each of these actions adds up to a bigger issue, which is women in sports are not treated the same as men. It is a goal of mine to raise a daughter in a world of sports that accepts her and treats her equally as they would a man. Our mission is for every little girl out there picking up a field hockey stick, kicking a soccer ball or throwing on spikes to run on the track. Women deserve an equal place in sports, and it is our responsibility to demand it.
